“Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it’s the answer to everything. … To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus.”
~ Enid Bagnold

About the Author
The Prairie Chicken was created by me, an anxious young woman who grew up in the Canadian prairies. Passionate about agriculture, writing, and the human condition, I began writing to share these interests with friends and family. For privacy reasons (another way of saying "I'm a high-functioning wallflower"), I will not be disclosing names or places in my writing.
My work has been called honest, funny, and "my goodness... she, um, has an interesting way with words" (that last one was my grandma trying to be supportive). I like to take ordinary life events and blow them out of proportion to share with people what goes on in my head at any given moment of the day. Finding humour in what is sometimes crippling anxiety is something that brings me joy. I don't think you can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but I do believe that with the right creative attitude, you can make a delightful little clutch.
With anonymity as my safety net and lengthy sentences to give me wing, I hope to bring to you stories from the perspective of an irrationally anxious person with a rich internal dialogue.

About The Prairie Chicken
The Prairie Chicken is a blog set up to spread stories. Funny stories, serious stories, happy stories, sad stories; any writing that comes from the beautiful human mind.
To understand the power of sharing our writing, Enid Bagnold says it best: “...to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus.”
So head on over to the blog portion of this website and check out the different elements! There's a "Journal" containing my own writing, "Featured Writing" that anyone can contribute to, and a "Poetry Corner" for those who like to spice up their prose.

Sharing Stories
My vision for The Prairie Chicken is that it can be a platform where stories are told; but not just my own. I hope that this blog can bring people from all walks of life together to share their unique perspective.
If you have a story or poem you'd like to share, don't hesitate to send it to me!
